Giveaway: Glass Dharma *Closed*
| November 17, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

If you have read my blog very long you know I love Glass Dharma’s glass straws. Not only are the straws wonderful, the company is very friendly and helpful.
Straws may not seem like much waste but they add up! Sure you can just give them up but sometimes you really want a straw, plus if you drink iced tea like I do it will help keep your teeth from being to stained. Plus they are beautiful!
I carry two in my purse all the time and my favorite restaurant is even learning not to bring me straws because I have my own.
Glass Dharma’s straws are strong and they will even replace your straw if it does break, though that is highly unlikely. They can be put in the dishwasher and come with great cleaning brushes. They are very easy to clean and unlike stainless steel straws you can see if you got everything out of them.
This Christmas why not give someone (or all!) on your list some glass straws? Glass Dharma will help you out by offering four very lucky readers one $25 gift certificates each!

Product Review: Fish Lips Paper Designs
| November 13, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

Christmas wrapping paper uses over 50,000 trees each year, just for the UK! But it’s becoming easy to find recycled wrapping paper. Fish Lips Paper Designs uses 100% recycled paper and soy based inks. Saving lots of trees and chemicals.

Fish Lips Paper Designs says they are “environmentalism for the rest of us.” So while some greenies will use newspapers or fabric of gift wrapping, which is wonderful, others just aren’t ready for that step yet and this is a good stepping stone!
Fish Lips Paper Designs has many great designs of holiday and everyday wrapping paper. And they also have note cards.

The paper is high quality, has beautiful designs, and works like normal wrapping paper. So if you want to green your wrapping but aren’t ready to go all out, Fish Lips Paper Designs is a good start. Even if you don’t use wrapping paper check out the beautiful note cards!
*I was given a sample to test out for this review. I was not paid to write the review and these are my real feelings on the products.

The Smells Of Christmas
| November 5, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

Go to any big box store and you find a lot of air fresheners, candles, and all kinds of things to make your home “smell like Christmas.” But what’s in those products?
A lot of candles have lead wicks, the wax is made of a petroleum by product, and the fragrance oils can contain hormone disruptors. Air fresheners also contain the fragrance oils that often contain hormone disruptors.
So while you may think it smells nice, you are making your air more toxic. But that doesn’t mean your house can’t smell nice. There are many natural ways to get your house smelling like Christmas.
Diffusers are one nice option. You can get the one I have from Greenfeet.com. You just put a little water and a few drops of the essential oil of your choice on the plate and light the candle (be sure to use a bees wax or soy candle with lead free wicks). My diffuser currently has peppermint oil on it.
You can also buy bees wax or soy candles that use essential oils and lead free wicks. These can be used on candle warmers or just light them like normal candles.
If your house is a bit dry a good way to get some humidity back in to it and make the house smell good at the smell time is to put water, cinnamon, a few orange slices, nutmeg and whatever you have around on the stove and let it simmer. It will smell like you are baking something yummy so this may cause you to want to bake.
You can buy or make air fresheners made with essential oils. You can also mix up some carpet freshener to sprinkle before vacuuming to make the house smell nice as well.
To make this just mix baking soda and a few drops of whatever essential oil(s) you like and sprinkle on the carpet for 10 minutes- an hour before you vacuum. I also add some cinnamon to mine.
Before you know it your house will smell great and the air will still be clean and healthy!
